While Botox has dominated the landscape for many years, new competitors will continue to arise. Xeomin has been the newest kid on the block, and physicians have awaited the release of PurTox from Mentor. Patients can expect the availability of new products for years to come; many different forms of Botox exist throughout the world, but are not available in the U.S. It will also be interesting to see if the topical form of Botox ever becomes available to patients. There are many reasons to be skeptical of a topical Botox, but it would certainly be a very attractive alternative to patients.
